Dr Cass taught across Singapore's JC system for over two decades. His method, diagnose, rebuild, exam-proof, grew out of watching the same gaps trip up student after student, year after year. He teaches every H2 class himself. Same teacher. Same standard. Every time. That's why it works.
About me.
I enjoy learning, but more than that, I enjoy sharing knowledge with students. Having achieved straight A's in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry during my own Junior College years at Temasek JC, I have been helping students with these three subjects at the A-Levels for more than 25 years.
I have also earned a PhD in Education from NIE-NTU on scholarship, focusing on educational assessment, feedback, and how students develop self-regulated learning skills. To me, an educator's job is not just to feed solutions. It is to teach you how to think, how to break down complex ideas, and how to take charge of your own learning, long after class ends and even after you graduate from JC.
I have also taught classes in the National Institute of Education, NTU. These include a Masters-level class on Assessment in Teaching and Learning, attended by MOE teachers seeking to develop themselves professionally.
Why understanding beats memorisation at A-Levels.
The A-Levels are an exercise in thinking. Questions in national exams are designed to test application, which means they rarely repeat standard textbook examples. Relying on rote memory or hoping to spot topics creates unnecessary anxiety when an unfamiliar question appears. When you focus on understanding the core principles thoroughly, you do not need to guess what is coming, you will have the skills and confidence to solve whatever appears on the paper. That genuine mastery is also what makes learning in JC fulfilling rather than exhausting.
How my classes run.
Classes are conducted in an encouraging, low-pressure setting where everyone is learning the same topic together. Students feel comfortable speaking up, asking questions freely and directly, and clarifying doubts on the spot.
